Approching the Total Eclipse of the Moon
A total lunar eclipse occurred as the full moon was shadowed by the Earth on the arrival of the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, on December 21, 2010 in McKinney, Texas. This images was captured before cloud obscured totality. The lunar eclipse had not coincided with the Winter Solstice since 1638.
