Elevated view of Santa Catalina’s Arch or Arco de Santa Catalina. This is probably the most iconic place in Antigua Guatemala, it was was built in 1693 - 1694 to allow nuns to cross the street without being seen. Antigua and Santa Catalina Arch are today a favorite tourist destination. Antigua is as a partially restored colonial city with majestic churches and monasteries and cobblestone streets. Antigua was listed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1979.
