wild in south texas

I have just returned with a client from Lewisville, TX from a wildlife photography shoot in a hot and dry south texas. It was the first time he had ever photographed wildlife and within 3 hours he got to see his first bobcat, my second in 12 years! We photographed in heat up to 104 degrees F, but there was always a constant stream of animals coming into the waterhole to drink which kept our minds of the heat. Here are some of the images Tom got! http://gallery.me.com/pixelchrome#100262

By 6:45 we are ready to get into the blind for the morning shoot. We just spent a little extra time “above ground” to enjoy the pretty sunrise.

I got one of the best wildlife images I think I have ever shot – an image of a white tailed deer doe bolting from the waterhole. It has everything, great light, action, composition…you name it. It is uncropped, unmanipulated – just the way it came out of the camera – one of those really “lucky” shots.

Although it is cooler in the blind, the temperature probably hovers around the nineties, so we usually strip down to shorts and hope that a light breeze will blow through the porous fabric walls of the blind.

    Hey Jeremy,
These are fantastic! I love the light and the clouds in the first pic and the animals are amazing. You inspire me to pick up my G9 and read the owners manual! Let’s get together soon.

  • Thanks Janet. On Friday we are heading to South Padre for the weekend.

  • Hey there Jeremy!

Haven’t seen you in a while. I have shot on several of the ranches in South Texas and have always found it rewarding regardless of the time of year. Larry Ditto is a friend of mine and I was a regular on his photo shoots for several Years.

The images on this site are great. I have been laid up for several months (years to be exact) with various surgeries but have almost recovered to the point that I am ready to go again. I would like to keep in touch with you.

  • After hunting my whole life, it may be time to put the gun down and pick up a camera. Thanks for the inspiration.
