best show on tv
“A wooden leg. They’re so cheap they can’t even afford a whole reporter.” – Roger Sterling in the first episode of Season 4 Mad Men. With out a doubt this has got to be the best show on TV. Clever, witty and so un-Hollywood it is refreshing.

from dawn to dust!

last day in japan
Early morning found us in the fishing port of Rausu. Due to unfavorable conditions we were not able to photograph Steller’s eagles so had to make do with sunrise in the harbor. We made a mad 100-mile dash back to the airport on narrow roads crammed with slow moving traffic, making it just in time [...]

Today we stopped off at the nest site of a pair of Ural owls. This is one of the several Ural owl nests on the “owl circuit” in Hokkaido. Unfortunately the male was not there today. I was hoping for pictures of the pair at the cavity. The following images and video were shot with [...]
swans on lake kussharo
The following 3 clips are taken with the Canon 7D dslr. I am having a lot of fun with it although today the lcd was displaying some really funky colors due to the extreme cold. I decided to leave the sound on for this next clip as it is pretty impressive.

Earlier in the year I spent five days in blinds on the Santa Clara Ranch in South Texas. I particularly wanted to see and photograph a wild bobcat, which I eventually did.

time lapse on the wobbly bridge
This is what you can do on a dull, grey day when the light is not good for photography. This is a short time lapse sequence filmed over a period of about half an hour.
nature’s best photography contest
The following is a short slide show of images I entered into the Nature’s Best Magazine Annual Photography Contest. I think I have been shortlisted with the HDR image of the Monarch butterflies clustered on the tree trunk.
